Volunteer in the Canadian Rockies: Banff & Lake Louise 2026

Discover Canada’s breathtaking wilderness while making a real impact.
In 2026, the Canada Volunteering Program offers two unique opportunities to contribute to environmental conservation in the heart of the Rockies: a 3‑week placement in Banff National Park and a 4‑week program at Lake Louise Ski Resort. Both experiences combine hands‑on conservation work with cultural exchange, teamwork, and personal growth.

🌲 Banff National Park Program (3 weeks)

Banff, Canada’s first national park, is the perfect setting to learn and give back. Volunteers will:

  • Patrol trails, interact with visitors, and report wildlife sightings
  • Assist with restoration projects such as invasive species removal and native plantings
  • Support environmental monitoring and cultural heritage events
  • Join a one‑day orientation at Cave and Basin National Historic Site, including safety training and a guided hike

Accommodation: Canmore Downtown Hostel (CA$1,275 for 3 weeks, not included in program fee)
Program fee: CA$899 + accommodation + taxes
Start dates: Sessions run from late May through mid‑August 2026

🏔 Lake Louise Ski Resort Program (4 weeks)

At Lake Louise, volunteers support conservation initiatives behind the scenes of one of Canada’s most iconic destinations. Activities include:

  • Improving visual aesthetics of resort infrastructure (painting, refurbishing, clean‑up)
  • Participating in hikes to Skoki Lodge and local road trips
  • Supporting litter removal, erosion control demonstrations, and community events
  • Learning how the resort’s Park & Ride program reduces traffic in wildlife corridors

Accommodation: Free single‑room housing at Charleston Heights with Wi‑Fi
Extras: $200 gift card for food outlets, optional subsidized meals, welcome package
Program fee: CA$1,759 + taxes (accommodation included)
Start dates: Monthly sessions from May to September 2026
